What is your name? Noelani Rodriguez, ND

How old are you? 29

Where are you from? Fremont, CA (Bay Area)

What is your background? I have been into health ever since I played soccer competitively throughout high school. At the time, I was uneducated about what foods would really fuel my body, but I could feel when those foods helped me run longer and play harder. At university I earned a BS degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition. From there, I was so intrigued by how smart, intricate, and powerful the body was that I had to do more schooling. When I found Naturopathic Medicine, I knew this was how I was meant to help people. I love empowering women to take control of their health and helping them thrive at every stage of life.

In a few sentences, tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do. I am a Naturopathic Doctor, wife, environmental advocate, exercise junkie, and foodie. My focus in medicine is treating women, whether that be for hormone imbalances, peri-menopause, weight loss, thyroid, gut health, anti-aging medicine or hair and skin rejuvenation. I am also passionate about looking for ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle to support the environment. I’ve tried almost every type of exercise studio in San Diego and I am ALWAYS looking for excuses and reasons to try a new restaurant!

What are you currently doing for hair health and care? I am very lucky to have thick, cooperative hair that I don’t have to do much to.

But to support these long locks I use all natural shampoos and conditioners, I like to rotate brands but Acure is what I am using at the moment.

I have also moved away from washing my hair everyday to about three times per week to stop the stripping process and in return allow for less oil production.

Lastly, although I do this for patients all the time … I just received my first PRP (platelet rich plasma) hair treatment. This amazing hair stimulation therapy combines the growth factors from my own blood with a natural peptide signal that also encourages growth to stimulate my follicles to sprout those new hairs!

Are you using any natural hair products (if yes, what are they and what do you like or not like about them)?

I am currently using Acure’s dry shampoo for those in between days. I like their brand because it is clean and they have one that is formulated for dark hair.

I also take Nutrafol as an oral supplement, I love this company and their formula because it addresses not only the vitamins needed for hair growth but it also takes into account the effects stress can have on hair quality … and it’s formulation team includes Naturopathic Doctors so I know it is good!

What works well for you and what doesn’t? Getting my hair trimmed at least every 6 months, making sure I address my stress, taking the Nutrafol supplements and complimenting all this with the PRP hair treatments works amazingly. Along with addressing the root cause, I make similar recommendations to patients that come to me for support with hair loss because I know it works and have had success with it!

What are some helpful tips you can share with other readers? It is hard to give tips on products because everyone’s hair is unique. But for people that may be struggling with dry scalp or dandruff, hair thinning, or just weak brittle hair, my tip would be for these people to find a Naturopathic Doctor like Dr. Robertson or myself to help address the root cause of why their hair is not as strong, full, and healthy as it truly can be. There is so much more than just biotin to hair health!
