What is your name: Lara
How old are you: 38
Where are you from: Italian/Canadian
In a few sentences, tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do: I am a mother to 3 gorgeous children and the owner of Cre Organics. We make artisan skincare using plant based and organic ingredients. I love anything handmade and like to create things. On the side I like to run, lift my kettle bell, and experiment with cooking.
What are you currently doing for your health and hair: I believe that a healthy diet, good sleep, and plenty of water has a direct impact on the health of your skin and hair. Another important thing I try to do is to wash my hair at the most every 3 days, as this allows your scalp to produce just the right amount of oil which is very important for hair health.
Are you using any natural hair products: Every couple of months I use henna to condition my hair and give it a little bit of color. I also use a mixture of castor oil and olive oil as a scalp mask during the winter months and even in the summer when I would be in the swimming pool a lot.
What do you like about your hair and what has taken some time for you to accept about your hair: When I was young I used to hate the red tint in my hair. Somehow red along with my freckles made me feel a little embarrassed about my look. As an adult I no longer feel embarrassed about the way I look, I’ve learned to embrace it and appreciate that different is good!
What are some helpful tips you can share with other readers: My advise is always, less is more when it comes to keeping your hair healthy. Heat, bleach, and chemicals destroy the hair so I try to use my hair dryer or hair straightener and any hair products as little as possible. My daily hair routine is pretty basic and natural, and I since my hair is long I braid it at night to keep it from snagging and getting split ends.
